U.S. Swiss Safe Harbor

RDC Certification Accepted By U.S. Commerce Department for U.S. - Swiss Data Protection Safe Harbor

RDC is committed to safeguarding the personally identifiable information it receives from its subscribers and from publicly available sources. While the United States and Switzerland share the goal of enhancing privacy protection for their citizens, the United States takes a different approach to privacy from that taken by Switzerland. In order to bridge these different privacy approaches and provide a streamlined means for US organizations to comply with the “adequacy” standards for privacy protection, the US Department of Commerce in consultation with Switzerland developed the "safe harbor" framework. The safe harbor -- approved by Switzerland -- is an important way for US companies to avoid experiencing interruptions in their business dealings with Switzerland or facing prosecution by Swiss authorities under Swiss privacy laws. To that end, RDC has certified its compliance with the U.S.-Swiss Safe Harbor framework as set forth by the U.S. Department of Commerce regarding the collection, use, and retention of personal information from Switzerland. RDC has certified that it adheres to the Safe Harbor Privacy Principles of notice, choice, onward transfer, security, data integrity, access, and enforcement.
